Beijing Olympics 'gave brands a boost'

Brands got a significant boost by being associated with the Beijing Olympic Games, it has been suggested.In news which may interest people seeking brand manager jobs, an expert has said that the exposure received by companies that aligned themselves with the event was in part a result of the unexpected success of Team GB.
Speaking at the Westminster eForum Keynote Seminar, Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise UK, stated: "Once the Olympics started, seeing the success of the British team, we started seeing a massive increase in the amount of traffic going to Olympic websites and searches for Olympic terms."
He added that brands such as Puma, Adidas and Speedo were all bolstered as a result of their association with the sporting extravaganza.
According to research conducted by the Nielsen Company, the Games were the most watched in history, attracting 4.7 billion viewers over their 17 days.
