Employees in the UK, potentially including those with web design jobs, are increasingly taking packed lunches into their places of work as the credit crunch continues to makes its impact felt. This is according to Dr Frankie Phillips, a dietician at the British Dietetic Association, who said that such eating habits can be an effective way of saving money.
The expert suggested that bringing in a meal prepared at home can result in a daily saving of more than £2.
Dr Phillips said: "If you made all [your lunch] at home, you could do it all for £1 and at a time when you are trying to save money, your lunch from home is going to be more cost-effective for you saving money."
According to a recent survey commissioned by ActionAid, 48 per cent of workers regularly make their own lunch, while 37 per cent do a mixture of both preparing food at home and buying it during the day.
